US Patent No. 9,901,534 B2; ISP Investments LLC, Wilmington, DE, has patented a serum fraction blend suitable for use in formulating topically applied skin compositions that are effective in inhibiting melanin synthesis. The blend is comprised of banyan tree serum fraction, lotus serum fraction, and clover serum fraction. The percentage of melanin synthesis inhibition for the serum fraction blend is greater than the percentage of melanin synthesis inhibition for each of the individual serum fraction blend components when added together.
